We recommend using a rollerball or ballpoint pen with this pad. Keep in mind, these are real shaved sheets of wood, so no 2 are alike, and the fibers may interfere with more fine points (think a needle going over threads). This is a beautiful and unique item, but don't expect it to replace a higher volume memo pad.
